Do Not Be Deceived

A bouncy, doo-wop discernment song for older children and preteens (about ages 9–13), straight from 1 Corinthians 6:9–11. It names sin honestly, then lands on the good news — "such were some of you, but you were washed" — for the point is never condemnation but rescue, and no one is beyond His grace.

Do Not Be Deceived — Lyrics

The List

When the Bible says "don't be deceived," it means it, like today — don't think "did God really say?" When the Bible says the unrighteous won't enter Heaven, it means it, like today — don't go the wrong way! It names the sins we still excuse today — and to each one, the loving warning: don't. Don't bow to money, stone, gold, wood and clay. Don't cheat and betray. Don't be unjust and steal away. Don't fake how you weigh.

Bridge

And such were some of you — you were on the list too... by Jesus you were washed brand new, sanctified through and through.

Ending

When the Bible says Jesus saves, it means it, like today — repent and believe, Jesus washes the sin away!

Bible verse · Little lesson

A verse to hide in your heart

“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:11 (KJV)

Little lesson for little hearts

God loves us too much to lie to us about sin — He names it honestly so we are not deceived. But the song never stops at the list. It lands on rescue: "and such were some of you" — yet washed, sanctified, and justified in Jesus. Sin is shown to be foolish and empty, never something to envy, and the door of mercy is wide open to anyone who repents and believes. No one is beyond His grace.
