The Branches Are Not The Vine

We are the little branches, and Jesus is the true Vine — the life was always His. A fervent electronic praise anthem about abiding in Christ (John 15), grace that is "not what we do, not what we make," the witnesses of the risen Lord, and holding to the true Vine alone — sealed by His love, His blood, and His Spirit, kept in the Father's heart.

The Branches Are Not The Vine — Lyrics

Verse 1

We are the little branches, and Jesus is the vine. A branch can carry living sap, but the sap was always Thine. The right vine bears the right fruit — we abide and we bear; forgive us, Lord, when our small hands would claim the vine's own share.

Pre-Chorus

He walked perfectly among us, He rose up from the grave. Not what we do, not what we make — only Lord Jesus can save.

Chorus

Sealed by love, sealed by love, (hold it, little heart) the gift came down from God above — we don't tear it apart. Many witnesses were there, and what they told is true. The gift is given through Jesus, the only One it's through.

Verse 2

We may reap, or water, or sow — from God the Spring all growth does flow. We hand along the witness words of friends who walked with Christ the Lord; the ones who saw Him once, and true, their like won't come again. A branch can only bear His light while joined — or it's for the flame.

Pre-Chorus

He walked perfectly among us, He rose up from the grave. Not what we do, not what we make — only Lord Jesus can save.

Chorus

Sealed by His blood, sealed by His blood, (hold it, little heart) the gift came down from God above — we don't tear it apart. The witnesses were there, and what they told is true. A gift given by faith in Jesus, the One it's freely through.

Verse 3

His faithful teachers point the way and lift our eyes to Him; the one true Teacher speaks His Word for us to keep within. They carry one another's load, not a fading crown of their own; the crowns that He Himself will give, they cast before the throne.

Bridge

When voices say, "Come, follow us, your hands will make you whole; our newer words will fill you up, our way will feed your soul" — they think themselves the living vine, as if the branch can bear the root. We hold to the true vine alone — we will know them by their fruit.

Chorus

Sealed by His Spirit, He came like a Dove, (hold it, little heart) the gift came down from God above — we don't tear it apart. The witnesses were there, and what they told is true. The gift is given through Jesus, the only One it's through.

Final Swell

Sealed by the blood, sealed by the Holy Dove, (amen, little heart) the blood that cleansed us drew Him down — no greater, perfect love. The truth that Lord Jesus gave to us in perfect love will never fall apart — washed by the blood, sealed by the Spirit, kept in the Father's heart.

Bible verse · Little lesson

A verse to hide in your heart

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
— John 15:5 (KJV)

Little lesson for little hearts

A branch cannot make its own life — the sap, the life, comes from the vine. We are the little branches, and Jesus is the true Vine. We are not saved by what we do or make; only Lord Jesus can save, and the gift He gives — sealed by His blood and His Spirit — can never be torn apart. So we hold to Him alone, abide in Him, and bear His good fruit.
