The Word of God

A reverent, electro-tinged worship song set straight to Hebrews 4, written by Amanda Vaday. The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword: it reads the thoughts and attitudes of the heart, and nothing in all creation is hidden from the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. But the song does not leave us standing there exposed — we have a great High Priest, Jesus the Son of God, tempted as we are yet without sin, so we may come with confidence to the throne of grace and find mercy, and grace to help in time of need. A hushed, wide-eyed child's verse builds into a soaring, grace-filled chorus, and the awe of being fully seen resolves into the safety of being fully known and fully loved.

For the word of God is living and active Sharper than any double-edged sword It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart

Nothing in all creation is hidden in God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account

Nothing in all creation is hidden in God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account

Verse 2

Nothing in all creation is hidden in God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account

But we have a great High Priest who has gone before, Jesus, the Son of God Tempted as we are, yet without sin, He knows, He understands So let us come with confidence to the throne of grace To find mercy, to find grace, timely help

The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account The eyes of Him to whom we must give account To Him we must give account

Bible verse · Little lesson

A verse to hide in your heart

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
— Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

Little lesson for little hearts

The Bible is not a dusty rule-book — it is alive. God's Word is "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword… a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12); "quick" simply means living. Like a surgeon's blade it cuts past what we say, even past what we pretend, down to the motive underneath the deed. The next verse adds that "all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do" (Hebrews 4:13). Nothing is hidden, every heart is laid bare, and each of us needs the same Savior, for "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). If the song stopped there it would only frighten us — but Hebrews does not. We have "a great high priest… Jesus the Son of God," "tempted like as we are, yet without sin," so we may "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:14–16). The same Word that uncovers us carries us to Jesus, who knows, understands, and welcomes us. So being fully seen by God is not something to run from: in Christ it is the safest place there is — fully known, and fully loved.
